About Us

July 5, 2007

Dear Fellow Leos,

It is once again a new year for Leos, and the main thing I would like to gain out of this year as President of the Richfield Leo Club is recruiting new members.  The Richfield Leo Club already is a close-knit group of individuals; this is a great situation, but we definitely need more help in terms of sheer numbers of members.  This is a topic that has been discussed extensively in past meetings, but there still is a lot of work to do to ensure that the Richfield Leo Club can continue strongly and confidently after this year’s seniors graduate.  That is why I think that there should be some form of system that guarantees that each member will at least try their hand at recruiting new Leos.  There is no shortage of candidates, but we have to do our part in finding the right ones to have hope of the club being able to continue serving the community successfully.

I personally really enjoy participating in the club’s activities, and do so actively.  However, I think the club simply has to be more strict about enforcing the current attendance policies.  Obviously it will help enormously if there were more members available to pick up the slack so that the same Leos aren’t always the only active club participants at every event or meeting.  While I realize we are all very busy, it is still important to make a real commitment to Leos if we choose to be members.

I am very proud of the club we currently have, and I wish to maintain all of the positive attributes the club possesses.  Because there are so many wonderful things that our club can do, and so much raw talent, imagination and enthusiasm, why don’t we involve ourselves more with other clubs?  For example, there have been many planned activities with the Sussex Leo Club previously that have gone up in smoke as a result of our club’s failure to maintain a steady stream of contact with each other.  Let’s resolve to strengthen our club’s relationship with the neighboring clubs this year and, in doing so, set a firm foundation for the years to come.

Finally, I wish to stress that the Richfield Leo Club first and foremost, is “our club.”  I sincerely hope that this year all the members, including myself, can really start setting examples for other clubs, the community as a whole and future Leos who come after us.  Let’s make a real difference this year.

Yours truly,
Leo President Ian J. Little
